Target Group: Dangerous Goods training for: 

· Staff of freight forwarders involved in processing cargo (other than dangerous


goods). 

· Staff of freight forwarders involved in the handling, storage and loading of


dangerous goods. 

· Operators and ground handling agent’s staff accepting cargo (other than
dangerous goods). 

· Operators and ground handling agent’s staff responsible for the handling,
storage and loading of cargo and baggage. 

Objective: 

After completion of this course, the student should be able to: 

I. Define Dangerous Goods 

II. Know the legal basis and origin of the current regulations 

III. Understand the limitations for Dangerous Goods 

IV. Identify Classes and Divisions of Dangerous Goods 


V. Look for hidden Hazards in cargo 

VI. Recognise the various types of packaging 

VII. Recognise and identify hazard and handling labels applicable to dangerous
goods 

VIII. Recognise package markings, specifications and markings 

IX. Recognise the need for package inspection 

X. Apply storage and loading procedures for D.G. 

XI. Understand the requirement to report incidents, accidents and false


declarations involving D.G. 

All course instructors are trained and approved by the Irish Aviation Authority, and
ICAO.

An examination is given at the end of each course and successful applicants receive
a certificate approved and acknowledged by the IAA, and ICAO in accordance with
JAR-OPS 1&3R
