ABSTRACT

Overview of Length of Pain, Self Care Behavior, and Grade of Hypertension Patients at
the Sultan Agung Hospital Semarang

Background: The world health organization (WHO) says the number one cause of death in
the world is hypertension. This is due to lifestyle, diet, lack of physical activity, exercise,
improper diet, weight control, stress, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of knowledge, lack
of routine blood pressure control and patient understanding and management ability or
behavior. self-care behavior. This study aims to determine the description of the length of
illness, self-care behavior, and grade in patients with hypertension at the Sultan Agung
Hospital Semarang Polyclinic.
Research Design: This study used an observational research type, using a cross sectional
approach. The number of samples used was 88 respondents, with the sampling technique
used was Rondom Sampling. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire, using the
Hypertension Self Care Profile (HBP-SCP) Behavior Scale questionnaire which consisted of
20 statements. By using descriptive analysis.
Results: the results of univariate analysis of the majority of patients aged 46-55 years
(60.2%), female (57%), with a history of the last education level of elementary school (30%),
family income per month 2,000,000.00-4,000,000 ,00 (54.5%), long suffering from
hypertension with short duration of 1-5 years (69%), self care behavior in the moderate
category (68%), and the majority were in grade 1 (48%).
Conclusion: The majority of respondents with 1-5 years of illness applied self care behavior
in the moderate category and were in the Garde 1 hypertension degree category at the Sultan
Agung Hospital Semarang Polyclinic in 2022.
