Hello! My name is Elsa and I am a volunteer at the Ucayali Wildlife Rescue

Centre. We rescue and take care of animals that are affected by trafficking in the
region of Ucayali. We take care of rescued animals until they can return to their
native habitat. There are a lot of animals here. These are some of the most
popular animals that we rescued.

These are the spider monkeys or maquisapas . They live in the

Peruvian jungle . They have long arms and legs and a big tail.
They can jump and they can climb trees to get fresh fruits.

These little ones here are the Taricaya turtle. They live in
the Amazon river. They have hard shell in their backs to
protect themselves from predators, They can’t run very
fast, but they can swim quickly.

These are my personal favourites the macaws. They live in the

Peruvian rainforest. Macaws can fly and they have strong wings
and colourful feathers. They can learn to repeat some words, but
they can’t have conversation like us.
