Municipal gov’t employee in Nueva Vizcaya yields weapons stash

An employee of the municipal government of Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya was arrested for
illegal possession of firearms on Saturday, Oct. 1.

A report from the office of Col. Dante Lubos, officer-in-charge, Nueva Vizcaya Police
Provincial Office, identified the suspect as Elmer Peralta, 57, of Barangay Poblacion,
Aritao.

The Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Field Unit-CIDG, Aritao police, and Provincial Mobile
Force Company raided his house on a search warrant issued by Judge Paul R.
Attolba, presiding judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 30 Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya
dated Sept. 30, 2022 after authorities learned that he was keeping a stash of guns.

Police found one 60mm mortar bomb high explosive, two caliber .45 magazines, 45
9mm ammunition, one caliber .22, one Carbine 5.56 mm airsoft with magazine,
Marksman 2004 airsoft, and a caliber .22 airsoft.

Peralta was arrested and taken to the police station. Suspect face charges for
violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition
Regulation Act.

I. News Summary

Poblacion Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya was arrested for illegal possession of
firearms on Saturday, Oct. 1. The house of the suspect raided of the
Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Field Unit-CIDG, Aritao police, and Provincial
Mobile Force Company on a search warrant issued by Judge Paul R.
Attolba, presiding judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 30 Bayombong,
Nueva Vizcaya dated Sept. 30, 2022 after authorities learned that he was
keeping a stash of guns.

II. Assessment

The person who has a gun needs complete papers. The necessary
papers are the licensed to own, possess of fire arm, certificate of fire arm
registration and permit to carry fire arm. The illegal possession of firearms
is one the problem that faces of the Philippine National Police. As stated
the news, Police found the suspect of one 60mm mortar bomb high
explosive, two caliber .45 magazines, 45 9mm ammunition, one caliber
.22, one Carbine 5.56 mm airsoft with magazine, Marksman 2004 airsoft,
and a caliber .22 airsoft. With the collected evidence the suspects will be
facing charges in violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive
Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
III. Recommendation

I therefore recommend that the PNP should strengthen the process of


their surveillance and operations on suspect illegal firearms and put them
into jail to prevent it. Further, those you have firearms are required to apply
for a license at the Camp Crame Firearms Division to prevent the use of
illegal firearms.
