Adjective clauses are used to add variety, sophistication, and interest to the sentences.
They are useful in combining sentences to provide more details and information.

Adjective clauses Sentence Example

-Adjective clauses to express quantity use many of, most of, some of, two of, a number of,
both of, all of, etc.
 Negative personality traits, most of which are totally false, are often applied to shy,
attractive people.

-Also use the structure quantifier + prepositions + relative pronoun (only who, whom,
where, when, which).

 The participants, all of whom were adults, were making a lot of noise.

Activity
i. Rewrite the sentences using adjective clauses (pronoun clauses)
1. She worked for a man (the man used to be an athlete)
She worked for a man who used to be an athlete
2. They called a lawyer (the lawyer lived nearby)
They called a lawyer who lived nearby.
3. We broke the computer (the computer belonged to my father)
We broke the computer which/that belonged to my father.
4. I dropped a glass (the glass was new)
I dropped a glass that/which was new.
5. I visited a part of England. This part is known as the Lake District.
I visited a part of England which is known as the Lake District.
6. There were three women in the room. They were blond.
There were three women in the room which/whom were blond.
7. She is a woman. Her husband works in my office.
She is a woman whose husband works un my office.
8. That is a factory. Its workers are on strike.
That is a factory whose workers are on strike.
9. John lives in a town. He works in the town.
John lives in a town where he works / John is the one who works in the town.

ii. Create five sentences using quantifiers

When I have money I want to buy a lot of sneakers


I don't like any of that store let's go see another one

I like that subject because there are few tasks to do
