TITLE: Diaspora
Andrew Jimenez is a young, fourteen-year-old Filipino. His parents strive to make ends
meet, as he struggles with being the breadwinner of his seven siblings. Andrew’s mother gets a
job opportunity to work as an OFW in Hong Kong, a place that she has always wanted to go to.

Anthony, a middle-aged accountant, finds his life uneventful. Day in, day out at the office, filing
up papers and taxes – only one thing keeps him sane; coming home from work, watching the
television and its 63 channels. Every channel had a new story to tell, and it brightened up his dull
One lonely Saturday, he boots up his television before seeing a new channel that has never been
there before; channel 64. Interested, he turns the TV to the new channel, only to find disturbing
footage of a man being brutally murdered. Horrified, he turns the TV off before realizing that the
The next day, he checks the channel to find it gone. It was missing, without a single trace—every
day since he checked his television before seeing the channel again next Saturday. Detailed and
gruesome murders are captured on the screen – a bloody arm mutilated, dangling on a torched
man’s dilapidated body; knife carvings all around a woman’s gut-splattered chest, spelling out
the name “ANTHONY”. For what felt like thousands of sleepless nights, Anthony knew that his
deteriorating mental state will kill him faster than the people behind this ghastly scheme will.
He flips through the channels to see more information, before he catches glimpses in the news of
numerous cases of missing people, all with similar features to him and his family. Certain he has
had enough; he then commits his entire life to find out the source of the channel and gather more
information on the grueling topic. But maybe, he was better off not knowing.
