▪ State the Problem - Observe something that can lead to a question, and then ask a
question about what you're observing.
▪ Analyze and Interpret the Data - The process of interpreting the data consists of
attempting to provide an explanation for the patterns that were observed.
▪ Draw Conclusion - This implies that you may need to either modify your process
if it was not specific enough or alter your hypothesis.
1. Qualitative
Description: Observations provide nonnumerical results.
Example: color, smell, taste, touch or feeling, typology, and shapes.
2. Quantitative
Description: Quantitative observations yield meaningful,
numerical results.
Example: age, weight, height, length, population, size and
other numerical values.
