HARLEQUIN POUCH Ny Le seueing palterns Finished size 23cm x 12.5em (9” x5") Acomplementary pattern to the Harlequin Tote (not included) Print at 100% or actual size. Read through all of the instructions before you begin. Materials required: Outer: 34cm x 22cm (13” x 8%") ‘Accent- 31cm x 18em (12” x 7") Lining: 28cm x 45cm (11” x17 %") Interfacing- 1m of sf101 (based on interfacing width of Sdcm) Fusible fleece- 28cm x 44cm (11” x 17") 22cm (8 4") #3 zipper Additional to the pattern please cut: 2x Zipper tabs- 4cm x Sem (1%4" x 2") Harlequin pouch - Crafted by Leanne + Seam allowance is 1cm (%") and included in all pieces unless stated. 4 Top stitching is 3mm (}") and using a slightly longer stitch length than the SA. RS- Right side WS- Wrong side SA- Seam Allowance Press- To iron (Or finger press if you cannot iron) There are 2 options for the pouch. To mirror the Harlequin tote shape, start at step 1 To use the plain pattern piece instead of the angled pieces start at step 1 and skip to step 8 1. Fuse interfacing to the WS of all pieces if your fabric requires Do not fuse the fleece until step 11. 2. Take one outer upper right piece and one outer lower right piece. 3, Flip the upper piece onto the lower piece RS together matching up the left side as shown below. Don't worry about it not matching on the right side. Sew together using SA. Harlequin pouch - Crafted by Leanne 4, Press open the pieces and on the WS press open the SA. From the RS top stitch down both sides of the seam to keep the SA open. 5, Take one outer upper left piece and one outer lower left piece. 6. Flip the upper piece onto the lower piece RS together matching up the corner as shown below. Don't worry about it not matching on the left side. Sew together using SA. Harlequin pouch - Crafted by Leanne 7. Press open the pieces and on the WS press open the SA. From the RS top stitch down both sides of the seam to keep the SA open. Repeat steps 2 - 7 with the remaining outer left and right pieces. 8. Take one complete left side and one complete right side. 9. Lay them RS together and sew down the long straight side using SA. 10. Open up the pieces and press open the SA. Top stitch down both sides of the seam to keep the SA open. Harlequin pouch - Crafted by Leanne 11. If your fabric allows, centre one piece of fusible fleece on the WS of one of your complete outer panels and fuse. If you are unable to fuse to the outer you can centre and fuse it to the WS of a lining piece. Repeat with your remaining fusible fleece piece and your remaining outer or lining depending on which you've chosen. 12. Take one of your zipper tabs and fold it in half WS together bringing the short ends together to find the centre line and press. Open it up and bring the short ends in to meet the centre line and press Repeat for the other zipper tab. Make sure your zipper measures exactly 22cm (8 X"). Trim if needed and add a little fray stop to the ends of the cut tape. 13. Lay one end of the zipper against the centre line of one of the zipper tabs and fold the tab in half around the end of the zipper. Top stitch it in place. Repeat for the other end of the zipper using the remaining zipper tab. il 14. Lay the zipper RS down on one of the outer panels and centre. Top stitch together using a long stitch length, Harlequin pouch - Crafted by Leanne 15. Lay one of the lining pieces on top RS together matching the top edge of the lining with the top edge of the outer panel. Sew together using " SA. 16. Unfold the outer and lining panels so they are now WS together. Clip together if needed. 17. Lay the remaining outer panel RS to the outer panel with the zipper attached. Match up the top of, the panel with the raw edge of the zipper and centre. Top stitch together using a long stitch length. 18. Lay the panel with the sewn in lining facing upwards. Lay the remaining lining piece RS together ‘matching the top edge with the raw edge of the zipper. Sew together using X" SA. 19. Unfold so that both outer panels are facing upwards and both linings are facing downwards. Press if needed and your fabric allows. Starting at the end of one zipper tab, top stitch across the zipper to the other end of the zipper tab. Stitch across the zipper tab. Top stitch across the other side of the zipper and across the other zipper tab to finish. Harlequin pouch - Crafted by Leanne OPEN YOUR ZIPPER 20. Bring the outer pieces RS together and the lining pieces RS together. Match up the seams where the outer and lining join, press open the SA and pin or clip together before pi the sides. Sew down the side edges using SA. Sew across the bottom of the outer using SA. ‘Trim both the side SA on the lining to a rough 6mm (1/4" Leave the lining bottom edge open for now. 21. On the lining bottom edge measure and mark Scm (2") in from each side each. Start from one side of the bottom edge and sew to the marked Scm (2”) line using SA. Repeat for the opposite side. This will leave an opening between the two marks for turning. 22. Trim off the corners of the outer cut out corners. Harlequin pouch - Crafted by Leanne 23, To box the comers, start with one corner and bring the side seam to meet the seam on the bottom edge. Sew together using SA. Repeat for the other corners. Reach through the turning gap and pull everything through so it's RS out. 24, Reach through the turning gap, on the one side open up the SA where the outer and lining joins before folding and pushing the lining inside the outer so the corners sit nearly. Repeat for the other side seam, Pull out the lining enough without disturbing the sides by the zipper tabs that were folded in neatiy. ‘Match up the folded edges of the turning gap and top stitch closed. ik Push the lining inside the outer to finish.
