Dear Mr Tan

I am Lin Yi Wei from 3A1, the purpose of this letter is to give my suggestion on where to go for the
field trip. I have seen a webpage about Tiong Bahru neighbourhood and I think it would be a good
choice. The activities I had chosen for us are Tiong Bahru Trail and “Books Actually” and I think the
class will be able to enjoy and learn from these experience .

Students can enjoy reading books by lesser known authors with a focus on native writers at “Book
Actually”. They even host book launches, poetry reading sessions and local exhibitions for students
to attend and enjoy. We can learn new vocabulary from reading and how to write poems. Students
can learn about the lives of the district’s residents in the 20 th century and the buildings of Singapore
before the war if we go on Tiong Bahru Trail.

Students have to wear their school uniform and have to bring their own bags and cash for lunch.
There will be bus to take us there. The bus will leave at 8.00am and students who are late will have
to go there themselves. We will visit “Books Actually” first and make sure all the students are
reading, after two hours, students can go and buy their own lunch. Then, we will go on Tiong Bahru
Trail. They can walk and look at the buildings then gather at 3.00pm. The bus will take us back to
school and students can be dismissed.

I think this trip would be a good way to celebrate the end of Prelim 1 examinations because they
get to bond with their classmates through these activities and can learn new things for example,
places of religion, cultural and historic notability from the Tiong Bahru Trails. Also they can relieve
stress from Prelim 1 by reading books. Hope you will take my idea into consideration.

Yours sincerely,
Lin Yi Wei
