Founded in 1972, when formal architecture was only beginning to take roots in the country, the association has been at the forefront of establishing architecture as a recognized profession and shaping our physical environment. Today, after the pandemic, there is an increased emphasis on urban regeneration and green open spaces while orientation of building projects is changing to include a more diverse portfolio driven by shifting investment focus. The moment is opportune to reflect upon the structure of profession, impact on practicing architects, the need for capacity building, a consolidation of experiences and demonstrated practices and an exploration of new avenues opening in the field for young and senior professionals. Hence, this event is not only an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of one of the oldest associations of the country to the profession but also a chance to deliberate on a way forward for the profession in the post pandemic world and transitioning markets.
