1. GENERAL MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS
The Automatic Unit V2 is a programmable sewing machine, for applying pre-pressed patch pockets onto jeans or casual trousers, using the
Mitsubishi PLK B 2516 sewing head.
The highly flexible unit loads the quarter pieces of the trousers and the pre-pressed pockets into a unit placed next to the sewing machine.
The positioning of the quarter piece is guided by visual reference points and/or reference notches, and the process is made easier by the simple
construction and wide range of visibility of the work surface.
After loading the pre-pressed pocket into the jig, the Loader carries the material to the working position under the sewing machine, which begins its
cycle automatically when the Loader returns to its initial position.
The Loader returns to its initial position, in order to load more material and another pre-pressed pocket, while the sewing cycle is being carried out.
At the end of the sewing cycle, a stacker removes the quarter piece from the machine to make way for another loading cycle.
Three different working patterns for the unit can be selected:
• Applying a patch pocket with automatic loading of the quarter piece and the pre-pressed pocket, automatic sewing cycle start and automatic
unloading of the finished piece at the end of the cycle.
• Applying a patch pocket with automatic loading only of the quarter piece; the pre-pressed pocket is loaded and the sewing cycle start is
controlled manually, with automatic unloading of the finished piece at the end of the cycle.
• Making designs or symbols on the pocket with automatic loading and automatic sewing cycle start. Manual unloading of the sewn pocket.

The unit allows for a quick change of forms (about four minutes). These forms are supplied together with a floppy disk, containing the personalised
programmes requested by the client.
Changing the form does not require the intervention of a technician, but its simple design, together with the use of special materials, mean that it can
be carried out by the operator.
The unit can apply 1800 - 2000 pockets in eight effective working hours.
The unit works in conjunction with a pocket-pressing machine, run by the same operator.

1.1. SUPPLY VOLTAGE

The supply voltage is 220 V single-phase 50/60 Hz for the sewing machine and the control panel.
6 V 50/60 Hz for the laser spotlight circuit.
Consumption is about 1KW.

1.2. COMPRESSED AIR CONSUMPTION AND PRESSURE

Consumption is about 1.2 litres of air intake per cycle with pressure of at least 5 bar.

1.3. DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT

Basic Head used: Mitsubishi PLK B 2516 “C”

"A" Signals if there is a minimum pressure of 4bar in the compressed air in the pneumatic system.
"B" Signals the position of the loading jig in the equipment.
Safety. It works in conjunction with pneumatic limit switch MAV3-M5

19.4. FLOW REGULATORS

Three models are used to regulate the speed of movement of the cylinders in the equipment.
They are used as a BRAKE for the outlet of air.

TYPE FUNCTION
"C" Screw-type flow regulator in the Unloader
AS1201FM5O4 Knob-type micro-regulator in the equipment and on solenoid valve EV9
SCO 604 1/8 Screw-type flow regulator for Loader cylinder speed located in the expansion outlet

19.4.1. LOADING CYLINDER EXPANSIONS

On the right-hand side of the machine, above the table, are two cylinder expansions with two type SCO 604 1/8 flow regulators on the end.
The upper regulator controls the return speed of the loading carriage
The lower regulator controls the advance speed of the loading carriage, in conjunction with regulator RFU 482 connected in parallel.

ADJUSTMENT
Open the two regulators to maximum and close them by three turns.

ATTENTION: On the two ends of the 25/500 cylinder there are regulators for the braking in the final 5 mm of the stroke of the cylinder in both
directions. Close the regulators completely and open them by 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn.

58
19.4.2.LOADING JIG
This knob-type flow regulator located at the output of solenoid valve EV9 is type AS1201FM5O4.

It regulates the speed of descent of the loading jig and should be adjusted so that the jig exerts uniform pressure on the material with the minimum
possible pressure and speed of descent.

19.4.3.SPEED ADJUSTMENT OF UNLOADER CYLINDERS

In the Unloader at the front of the machine there are three cylinders.
All three cylinders have a brass-plated screw on the end for adjusting the pneumatic limit stop brake.
The opening of the Unloader cylinders should be adjusted to the slowest speed possible, in order not to cause damage to property or persons
in the area of movement.

19.4.4. TROUSER BLOCKING LEVER 25/50 CYLINDER (SHORT)

There are two type C regulators, the upper one (number 4 in the drawing) for the outgoing speed of the lever (slow), the lower one (number 3 in the
drawing) for the re-entry speed of the lever (fast). Their position is shown in the following diagram:

19.4.5. TROUSER SHIFTING LEVER 25/120 CYLINDER (LONG)

There are two type C regulators, the upper one (number 1 in the drawing) for the outgoing speed of the lever (slow), the lower one (number 2 in the
drawing) for the re-entry speed of the lever (fast). Their position is shown in the following diagram:

19.4.6.CARRIAGE 25/100 CYLINDER EXTENSION OUTWARDS OF CYLINDERS

3 Lowering speed of Internal Jig
4 Lowering speed of External Jig

19.4.8.CENTRAL CARRIAGE CYLINDER

There is a type AS1201FM5O4 flow regulator on the central cylinder that regulates the outgoing air from the cylinder.
When adjusting, try to obtain an extension speed that is not too high.
Between one sewing cycle and the subsequent loading cycle, the cylinder must be able to position the central pocket shape in its correct working
position, when the internal pocket shape lowers to block the material.

19.4.9.INTERNAL JIG CYLINDER

The pair of 16/20 cylinders that lift the central pocket shape are connected in parallel.
On the right-hand cylinder there are two type AS1201FM5O4 flow regulators that regulate the outgoing air from the two cylinders. They should be
adjusted so that:
- the lifting of the jig is adjusted to the highest possible speed, without the jig oscillating.
- the descent of the jig is adequately fast and decisive.

19.4.10. EXTERNAL JIG CYLINDER

The pair of 16/20 cylinders that lift the external pocket shape are connected in parallel.
On the right-hand cylinder there is a type AS1201FM5O4 flow regulator that regulates the outgoing air from the forward part of the two cylinders.
It should be adjusted so that the descent of the jig is adequately fast and decisive.

60
20. PNEUMATIC SYSTEM
A series of cylinders (some special), controlled by the Solenoid Valves, are used to carry out all the various functions.
The cylinder connections are as follows:

21. ORIGINAL POINT SENSORS

There are two magnetic positioning sensors inside the sewing head.
They are located at the following points:
- inside the Sewing Head near the carriage sliding guides, under the transparent LEXAN cover on the right (X AXIS).
- inside the back longitudinal arm under the handwheel behind the machine (Y AXIS).

Their function is to place the machine at Zero point (Original Point) when the machine needs to be re-set, or at the end of each sewing programme .
To know what type of sensor is used, refer to the spare parts catalogue for the head being used.
For their exact location, see the following plan:

22. EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENT (90°)

This adjustment is of fundamental importance for applying the pocket perfectly.
Check the position of the equipment in the sewing machine according to the following instructions:
• insert the stainless steel plate in its working position (push the 4 grooves on the attachment plate until they touch the stopper).
• check with a square that the plate moves perpendicular to the work surface or check that the distance between the right-hand side of the
stainless steel plate and the left-hand side of the work surface is equal both at the beginning and at the end of the plate.
Loosen the clamping nuts and adjust the surface as needed. See the following diagram:

ADJUSTMENT

90°

61
23. EXTERNAL JIG UNIBALL ADJUSTMENT
23.1. POSITION ADJUSTMENT
Remove the external jig; insert the special gauge, supplied with the machine, into the two Uniballs in the equipment, with the pin in the lower part
facing the left-hand side.
See the following diagram:
Lower the external jig and check that the gauge pin is inserted perfectly into the hole in the stainless steel surface.
If adjustment is needed:
• Loosen the two clamping nuts of the two Uniballs.
• Tighten/Unscrew the Uniballs until the reference mark is correctly in line with the hole.
• Tighten the clamping nuts of the two Uniballs.

23.2. LEVELLING ADJUSTMENT

Check that the external jig rests evenly on the underlying stainless steel plate.
Change the position of the Uniballs to modify the resting point of the jig, increasing the load at the top of the pocket or at the end.
Lower the external jig and lift it slightly to check its position.
See the following diagram:

24. LOADING CARRIAGE ADJUSTMENT

This adjustment is made to make sure that the movement of the STAINLESS STEEL surface of the loading carriage is perpendicular and rectilinear
in respect to the work surface.
Adjust the position of the loading carriage as follows:
• Turn off the machine.
• Remove the loading jig in the carriage.
• Push the carriage into a position next to the sewing head.
• Loosen the 4 clamping screws of the STAINLESS STEEL surface.
• Loosen the clamping screw of the grip support.
• Push the STAINLESS STEEL surface of the carriage against the work surface.
• Pull the loading surface slightly outwards, so that between the work surface and the loading surface there is a gap of about 1mm.
• Tighten the 4 upper clamping screws.

Pull the carriage forwards and backwards and check that:

• the movement in both directions is free
• the position is perpendicular to the work surface at all points.
• Tighten the clamping screw of the grip support.

See the following diagram:

26. LIFTING THE SEWING HEAD
Before carrying out any operation, make sure that:
• the unit is off, by pressing the OFF key on the main switch.
• the unit is disconnected from the general compressed air system.
• the wheels at the base of the stand of the machine are blocked.

Disconnect the electrical connector for the supply of the positioning spotlights.
Remove the belt covering safety guard fixed to the table
with wood screws.
Remove the transmission belt from the pulley of the
electric motor.
Remove the transparent LEXAN X-axis guide safety cover
on the left, by unscrewing the 3 clamping screws.
Remove the External and Internal Jigs, the Stainless Steel
Plate and the Loading Jig
Move the loading carriage completely to the left.
Check that the sewing head support rod is on the table.

Now, with two people (one on each side) turn the sewing head
so that it pivots on its hinges on the left side of the sewing head base,
until the sewing head rests on the wooden support.

ATTENTION: Do not put any pressure on the LOADER

when lifting the head, so as not to lose the alignment,
but place both hands on the casing.

ATTENTION: DANGER OF CRUSHING HANDS

One person should now hold the machine in a vertical position
while the other can carry out the necessary controls.
To lower the machine, again with a minimum of two people, pay maximum attention to avoid the danger of crushing hands.
Make sure that the electrical connector does not end up under the pressure feet of the sewing head or the equipment.

27. LOADING CARRIAGE UPPER BLADE ADJUSTMENT
This blade transports the upper side of the material in such a way as to avoid possible movement during the loading stage. Its position is as follows:
• In the Automatic Cycle, the blade passes near to the upper side of the lowered internal jig
• In the Semi-Automatic Cycle, the blade passes near to the upper side of the lowered external jig
• In the Design/Embroidery Cycle, the blade passes near to the upper side of the lowered Jig Fastener Bow.

The blade can be adjusted by loosening the clamping grub screw in the support and moving it along the dovetail.
See the following diagram:

ADJUSTMENT

28. UNLOADER WORKING POSITION ADJUSTMENT

The Unloader should be positioned as follows:

28.1. BASE
Adjust the position of the base, making sure that there is a gap of at least 1 cm between the stand and the box containing the computer and the long
lever for shifting the trousers. Secure the base with the pair of nuts and bolts supplied as accessories.
See the following diagram:

min. 1 cm
min. 1 cm

65
28.2. LONG AND SHORT LEVERS
The external movement and its length can be adjusted by the pair of regulators on the arm itself.

28.2.1. LEVER INCLINATION ADJUSTMENT

TROUSER SHIFTING LEVER
Use the LOWER regulator placed along the rod to control the maximum external and internal inclination of the lever in its position of maximum
extension.
Check that there is a gap of at least 2cm between the electric motor and the lever in its resting position.
The lever is normally in a vertical position, when the Unloader is in the INTERMEDIATE position of its working cycle.

TROUSER BLOCKING LEVER

Make sure that the SHORT lever rests on the material support surface when the Unloader is in its resting position, so that it can block the material.

28.2.2.LEVER LENGTH ADJUSTMENT

Using the UPPER regulator, it is possible to control the total length of the lever.

Make sure that:

- The SHORT lever rests on the middle of the material support surface stand when the unloader is in its resting position, to be able to block the
material as well as possible.
- The LONG lever passes 1cm from the table in the closing stage of the Unloader.

66
29. LASER SPOTLIGHTS FOR POSITIONING MATERIAL
The unit has two LASER spotlights for positioning the material, with a red light in the form of a cross.
They are connected to the transformer under the table and to a rapid engagement connector fixed to the table.
Their operational specifications are as follows:
SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 4,5V
POWER each : 2W

The following adjustments can be made to these spotlights:

29.1.POSITION - LONGITUDINAL AXIS

Loosen the clamping handle and move the spotlight along the "T" bar to position the cross-light so that it corresponds with the upper corners of the
pocket used.

29.2. POSITION - TRANSVERSAL AXIS

Lever the knob above the light and move the cross-light so that it corresponds with the upper corners of the pocket used, along the X-axis of the
spotlight (Right - Left)
