Wear Knot™- 1st Well Observations (Bakken)

• Wear Knot™ Drill Pipe that had been hard

banded showed almost no wear. Machine tool
marks were completely visible between tool
joint and WearKnot™ section.

• Many of the original stencils that had been

applied in manufacturing were still readable.
The surface of most of these tubes were still in
original mill condition.
1st joint into the BHA
• Only one joint was deemed unusable. This was
the first joint made up into the BHA with 4-3/4”
OD. Re-Tool Jointing was performed to save
the joint of Drill Pipe.

Wear Knot™ - +3 yrs Bakken Observations

• Eccentric wear in the same place is

observed (same as in any DH Tools)
• WKDP is under compression in
+10,000’ lateral section
• Body wall readings are still above
nominal readings after 3 years Eccentric Wear
• WKDP “Bottom Drilling time” is
enhanced by maintaining PDM Tool-
face Orientation aligned
• Over 3 years operational in the field
with no failures
• In the last 3 years, only 10% of string
was set aside due to wear on WK/Tool
joint area. 100% recovery can be
performed as tube body pristine
condition.
