DECANTING

Put 100ml of milk into 500ml beaker

Put 100ml acetate into corresponding beaker

Heating

Heat 100 ml milk until it reach 40C

Heat 100 ml acetate until it reach 40C

Mixing

Add the 100ml acetate into the milk, continuously stirring.

Checking of pH

Check pH level of mixture, add acetate if necessary to reach pH4.6

Cooling

Let it air cool

Filtration

Filter the mixture and collect the precipitate with a muslin cloth. Wash precipitate with distilled water

Addition of Ethanol

Add precipitate in 30ml ethanol, stir.

Filtration

Filter ethanol mixture with a filter paper. Wash precipitate with 50ml mixture of ethanol and ether
(25ml ethanol:25ml ether). After washing with the ethanol: ether mixture, wash with 50ml ether.

Drying

Air dry precipitate overnight


Calculate the casein by difference
