Background of North Korea


When in 1948-2014 Kim Jong Un’s Father, Kim Jong-il kept North Korea as a
communist area, however, when Kim Jong Un came to the Leadership spot, he
became a dictator. The koreans see their leader as a religious founder like a “god”

Advantages in North Korea


● An excellent defense because of the amount of nuclear weapons
● Free Health Care
● If you have a big name, you are more likely to earn more money and wealth

Disadvantages in North Korea


● No right to Vote
● There is no basic human rights
● When you go to North Korea, there is no possible way to leave the country
● No rights to freedom of speech
● Radio, Television and News are strictly restricted
● No Elections, all power is held by one person
● No individuality

Some key dates in North Korea's history:

● 1945 - Japan's colonial rule over Korea ends with its Second World War
surrender.

● 1948 - Korea is divided between the Soviet-backed North and the US-backed
South.

● 1950-1953 - Korean War.

● 1994 - Founding President Kim Il-sung dies, succeeded by his son Kim
Jong-il.
● 2002 - US names North Korea as part of an "axis of evil" in a stand-off
between the West and North Korea which lasts for decades.
