There is a type of intoxication as a consequence of alcohol consumption, each

with its own characteristics. Acute intoxication and chronic intoxication

Acute intoxication

This occurs as a result of the ingestion of large amounts of alcohol. The

absorption of this alcohol by the body depends on.

Alcohol content: The concentration of alcohol in the beverage. Chemical

composition of the beverage: may contribute to alcohol absorption. The presence
of food in the stomach. Weight of the item: less weight means more absorption.
Habit: In the later stages of alcoholism, tolerance to alcohol decreases.

Consuming alcoholic beverages in excess can reduce reasoning skills and lower
inhibitions, resulting in poor decisions and dangerous situations or behaviors,
such as the following:

Car accidents and other types of accidental injuries, such as drowning.

Relationship problems. Poor performance on the job or in school. Increased
likelihood of committing violent crimes or being a victim of a crime. Legal,
employment, or financial problems. Problems with other substance use.
Involvement in unsafe and unprotected sex, or being a victim of sexual abuse or
rape. Increased risk of attempting or actually committing suicide
