1. Describe the three capabilities of database management systems: data definition, data dictionary,
and data manipulation language. Discuss the importance of creating and using a data dictionary with a
large corporate database.

Answer: The formal language that programmers use to define the structure of the database's content is
known as the data specification language. Before being converted into the forms required by application
applications, the data specification language defines each data element as it appears in the database.
To modify the data in the database, most DBMS feature a specific language called a data manipulation
language that is combined with several common third- or fourth-generation programming languages.
The most used data manipulation language today is Structured Query Language, or SQL. It provides
commands that allow end users and programming experts to extract data from the database to satisfy
information requests and construct applications. SQL is a tool that both end users and information
systems experts may utilize. A data dictionary is a DBMS's third component. Definitions of data elements
and data characteristics, such as usage, physical representation, ownership (who in the organization is in
charge of preserving the data), authorization, and security, are kept in this manual or automated file.
Many data dictionaries may generate lists and reports of how data is used, grouped, where programs
are located, and other information.

2. Discuss the importance of business intelligence as it relates to databases.

Answer: To assist businesses in making more data-driven decisions, business intelligence integrates
business analytics, data mining, data visualization, data tools and infrastructure, and best practices. You
can determine if your organization has modern business intelligence when you have a thorough
understanding of its data and use it to drive change, get rid of inefficiencies, and react swiftly to supply
or market changes. Flexible self-service analysis, controlled data on reliable platforms, empowered
business users, and speed to insight are prioritized by modern BI solutions.

3. What do you see as the benefits of using a web-like browser to access information from a data
warehouse?

Answer: Users of any computing platform can access the essential business information by using Web
browsers as the information access layer of a data warehouse without the requirement for
customization. Web browsers are the ideal user interface for any client system because of this.

4. What advantage do non-relational databases and cloud databases provide to businesses?

Answer: NoSQL databases frequently offer better performance and are more scalable than relational
databases. Additionally, compared to the relational model, their data models' flexibility and usability can
speed up development, especially in the context of cloud computing.

5. Discuss management issues associated with databases like data governance and data quality?

Answer: The ability of an organization to adhere to set governance norms depends heavily on data
quality, which is a key pillar in the data governance structure. The proper use of data quality and data
governance frameworks has the potential to result in a symbiotic system that, in the end, preserves an
organization's strategic goals and guides decision-making, even though both exist as individual models.
