QUICK HISTORY FACT:

LOVE
Have you ever written your sweetheart a little love note? You might be
surprised to know that the first love poem titled The Love Song for Shu-Sin
dates back to 2000 BC. Archaeologists discovered the tablet in ancient
Mesopotamia. The author of the poem used the Sumerian writing system
known as cuneiform. Cuneiform utilizes pictographs to represent words.
Scholars believe that The Love Song for Shu-Sin was not just a love poem,
but in fact, it was part of a sacred tradition in which the king would
symbolically marry the goddess of love ensuring fertility and prosperity
throughout the land.
