Computer literacy is very advantageous, especially to the educators.

Computer is an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to
instructions given to it in a variable program.

Hardware is the physical part of computer

Parts of Computer: Monitor, keyboard, mouse and tower

Using the mouse, there are different t types of cursor: Arrow, the hand, and the hourglass

keyboard is a peripheral device that enables a user to input text into a computer or any other electronic
machinery.

Components of computer:

1. Input Device – Hardware used to enter data and instructions.

2. Output device –Hardware that conveys information to a user.

Two main components of motherboard:

1. CPU – Central Processing Unit also called processor

2. Memory – temporary holding place for data and instructions.

STORAGE – is a process through which digital data is saved within a data storage device by means of
computing technology.

Categories of Computers:
1. Personal Computers (desktop) – PC and compatibles and APPLE Macintosh
2. Mobile computers and mobile devices
3. Midrange servers
4. Mainframe computers
5. Supercomputers

Computer Software is a set of instructions, data or programs used to operate computers and execute
specific tasks. Applications Examples: word processing, databases, games, internet browsers (Internet
Explorer, Chrome) Network – collection of computers and devices connected together.

We need network to share resources, hardware devices, software programs, data and information to save
money and time.
