COMS 5012: AR Demonstration Video

Assignment Overview:
You will generate a video demonstration of an Aural Habilitation activity, preferably based on
the generated therapy plans. The objective is to share information and model strong practice
for parents and novice therapists providing support for students that are deaf or hard of
hearing. The demonstration videos should be 7-10 minutes.

Connection to Course Objectives:


 Effectively evaluate the appropriateness of clinical interventions for individuals with hearing
differences integrating targets in audition, language and speech.
 Accurately assess the results of implementing plans for assessment and intervention for
individuals with hearing differences.

Professional Standards Addressed:


 Standard IV-B Development of listening skills related to communication, integrating
information about normal development of listening for the purposes of communication.
 Standard IV-C Hearing disorders and differences.
 Standard IV-D Current principles and methods of prevention, assessment, and intervention
for persons with hearing disorders.

AR Demonstration Assignment Checklist:


Select an auditory based activity to demonstrate. You may choose something from the therapy
plans you have submitted. Ensure that you have a clear description of the communication-based
auditory target. Generate a video of 7-10 minutes that includes:

 Parent-friendly description of the auditory-based activity


 Integration of at least one of the featured AV strategies
 Demonstration of the activity including “scripts” that could be used by a parent or
practitioner.
 Suggestions for modifications for language users with varied skills.
 Suggestions for follow up to promote generalization.
 Professional communication and presentation with videos of “sharable” quality.
 All videos must be captioned.
 Share you video with at least one other student and get at least one compliment and one
suggestion. (Provide your feedback to another student.)
