I. Hiện tại đơn (Present Simple)

1. Cách sử dụng: thì hiện tại đơn dùng để diễn đạt No, she is not
- Hành động mang tính thói quen. Ex: Marsha goes to dance lessons every Saturday. No, they are not => sai
- Những tình huống cố định. Ex: Does Dan work at the cinema?
- Trạng thái ở hiện tại. Ex: I like the new James Bond film.
- Sự thật hiển nhiên. Ex: You play chess with 32 pieces.

2. Dấu hiệu nhận biết: always: luôn luôn

usually: thường thường
Thì HTĐ thường được sử dụng với những từ và cụm từ sau: often: thường xuyên
- Trạng từ tần suất: always – usually – often – sometimes – rarely – never sometimes: thỉnh thoảng
- Cụm từ: rarely: hiếm khi
 Every Monday/week/etc never: không bao giờ
 Each Monday/week/etc
 Once/twice a week/month/etc
 Three timesa week/month/etc
 Những trạng từ này thường đứng trước động từ thường nhưng sau động từ “to be”
 I often play football with my friends.
 I am often late for my piano lessons.

II. Hiện tại tiếp diễn (Present Continuous) to be Ving

1. Cách sử dụng: thì hiện tại tiếp diễn dùng để diễn đạt
- Hành động đang xảy ra. Ex: Jan is watching a DVD upstairs.
- Những tình huống tạm thời. Ex: She is working at the museum until the end of the month.
- Thói quen xấu hay sự phàn nàn thường dùng với “always”. Ex: My brother is always borrowing my CDs
without asking!
- Dự định, kế hoạch trong tương lai gần = be going to V
VD: I am going to have a birthday party tommorrow night = I am having a birthday party tommorrow night

2. Dấu hiệu nhận biết:
Thì HTTD thường được sử dụng với những từ và cụm từ sau: now – right now – at the moment – today –
this week/month/etc.
at present
III. Động từ trạng thái
Động từ trạng thái thường không miêu tả hành động, mà miêu tả trạng thái (cảm xúc, suy nghĩ…). Những
động từ này thường không được sử dụng ở thì hiện tại tiếp diễn.
VD:
 I like reading books in my free time. (Right)
X I am liking reading books in my free time. (Wrong)
Một số động từ chỉ trạng thái
appear dường như = seem include bao gồm see
be know seem
believe tin tưởng like taste
belong to thuộc về love think
hate ghét need understand
have prefer thích hơn want
Chú ý: Một số động từ (như be, have, think) sử dụng thì hiện tại tiếp diễn khi chúng miêu tả hành động.
Ex: What do you think about his new song? => ý kiến => không dùng tiếp diễn
I’m thinking about last night’s match. => hành động
