Laws of indices

When we multiply a number (or variable) by itself, then we are actually adding its powers; 

a * a = a2 

am * an = am+n

Similarly division means subtraction of powers; 

am / an = am-n 

if the power of any number or variable is zero, then it is equals to 1 

a0 =1

Other laws are as follows; 

(am)n = am*n 

(a * b)m = am * bm 

(a/b)m = am / bm

a-m = 1/am
