Script for Health Role play

Group 2 (10B)

First scene*
Mother: sigh* I’m so tired, I could go home already
----------------------At Home-------------------------
Dad: Ohh! Love, I’m glad your home you should prepare some snacks for me and my friends

(Kyla gives out a fake smile)

Mother: Sure, I’ll prepare it right away my love

(Kyla goes to the kitchen to find snacks for her husband and his friends to have while drinking)

Mother: Here you go, I found some leftover meat for u to eat
(she says annoyingly while handing out the plate)
The Next Day

(Sam enters the living room to find her father drunk asleep on the couch)

Sam: Haysttt! They drank again, will he ever change this lifestyle of his? Mom is already tired going home from work and
he still acts like this, he always orders mom around the house

(the sisters clean around the house and their mother cooks while Pedro sleeps)

Mother: Your aunt is going to visit us later, so you should get home early so we can prepare before she gets here
All: Ok mom, were going to go to school first
(the kids go to school while Kyla tries to wake her husband up)

Mother: Love, you should wake up me and the girls already ate breakfast you should eat too since you drank last night

(she says as her hands goes to her husband’s face to wake him up but Pedro slaps her hand away)

Father: Gosh your so noisy! Can u just leave me alone? Cant u see that I’m sleeping here peacefully why must you disturb
me?

(Kyla feels offended by her husband’s actions but she just decided to ignore it)

Mother: Oh by the way my sister is going to come here to visit us, she will be joining us later for dinner, you should clean
up around the house before me and the girls arrive

Father: Why should I be the one to clean? You should be the one to do it, I’m really tired

(Kyla sighs and just nods her head while showing a smile)
Mother: Ok then you should get some rest me and the girls will take care of what we need to do when we get home later

(Kyla and the girls arrives at the house after school and work)

Angelica: Mom! Dad! were home!

(They went to hug their parents)

(They saw their mom in the kitchen preparing for their dinner while their dad is still at the living room watching TV)

Sam: Mom let us help you prepare for our dinner you should get some rest

Mother: Thank you dear! Why don’t you help me first while your sisters go get changed?

Sam: Sure! Casandra and Angelica you guys should go get changed while I help mom

Father: Casandra before you freshen up would you be a dear and massage my back?

Sandra: Oh ok sure (says annoyingly)

(All of them are done preparing for dinner and are just waiting for their aunt to arrive)
(knock knock)

Mother: Well that must be your aunt you should go and greet her

All: Hello auntie, welcome!

(at the dinner table)

Auntie: How are you guys?

Mother: Oh were alright, still a happy and stable family

Auntie: Well that’s good to hear then

Auntie: How’s married life treating you both?

Father: It’s alright, we still love each other and enjoy each other’s company

(he lies while showing a smile)

Auntie: That’s nice to hear

Sandra: Oh aunt isn’t your daughter, ate Rema is a doctor? I’m asking because I want to be like her someday

Auntie: Oh that’s flattering to hear that you look up to my daughter, she’s actually a doctor in the States and she always
sends me money even when I don’t need some
Sandra: Oh wow that’s amazing! I didn’t know she was that successful

Father: Ay wow, look at your ate Rema she’s already so successful at a young age, how about you two? How’s school?

Angelica: I have something to say I was waiting for aunt to come so I could announce this, I actually received a
scholarship to University of the Philippines (she says excitingly)

Auntie: Really? I thought you already graduated, what’s the scholarship for?

Angelica: Yes, I already graduated but they offered a scholarship for me to get a master’s degree on engineering

Auntie: Oh dear, so you want to be an engineer? (she asks disappointedly)

(Angelica just nods her head as her smile fades away)

Auntie: (her eyes then shift to Sam to ask her something)

Auntie: What about you my dear how’s school? (she ask hoping for a decent answer)

Sam: I actually passed the PMA entrance exam

Angelica & Casandra: Wow! Congrats!

(their aunt looks at the eldest and middle child and gives out a loud sigh)

Auntie: Are you both happy with your decisions? Like those 2 jobs are mostly for men not women, do you really think
you’ll fit in with the others?

Angelica: Auntie well both jobs are actually for men and women, I also have girl friends who graduated as an engineer
student

Auntie: Huh? I don’t really find that excuse of yours to be valid. Why not be a nurse? Or a doctor it’ll suit you
both better. Shouldn’t you set an example for your younger sister? You two should be the one she
looks up to since you’re older. You should be glad that she looks up to my daughter and not you two
(She continues to criticize the 2 girls)

Auntie: Out of all the jobs and course you could have taken why choose the ones for men?!? (Her voice rising as she
continues to speak)

Father: Okay I think that’s enough (He says as he looks at his daughters bowing their heads down)

------------------------------------------------ AFTER THE DINNER---------------------------------------------------

Auntie: Thank you for the dinner it was great! I’ll get going for now, oh and you should rethink about your decisions in
life

Mother: Yes, yes don’t worry we will keep that in mind, come over again next time whenever you’re free
All: Stay safe auntie! Be careful on your way home

Father: Goodbye, thank you again for coming to visit us

Father: Love, go do the dishes and fix the table

(Kyla follows her husband and went to the kitchen to clean up)

Angelica: Mom let me and Sam help you in cleaning

Mom: Oh that’s very kind of you two, go fix the table while I wash the dishes

(Kyla suddenly brought up what happened earlier)

Mom: oh why don’t you look at that, you embarrassed me in front of your aunt because you want to be an engineer and a
military police

Angelica: Because that’s the job we want, you should at least give us your support

Sam: it’s a shame, I studied so hard to pass the PMA exams and I can get a free education so you don't have to worry
about the cost, I’m already happy with what I plan my future to be

Mom: Are you sure you will succeed in such jobs? I'm sure you will get multiple discrimination because those jobs you
chose are masculine

Angelica: It's not just men who work in engineering, women can also be an engineer

Sam: Women and men can do all kinds of work mom so please just support us that’s all were asking from you

Mom: So you’re still complaining? I'm already telling you what's good for you, and you still complain you are both like
your father who can't do anything right.

Angelica & Sam: Were sorry mom, we’ll just go to bed

(Kyla scoffs in annoyance as she finishes up washing the dishes)

----------------------------------------------------Next Scene-------------------------------------------------
(Pedro orders his wife as soon as he noticed that she was done cleaning)
Father: Can you give me some water? (He orders his wife again)

Mother: You have your hands and feet might as well use them

Father: You’re my wife you should be doing what I tell you to

Mother: Why am I always the one doing things for you? I’m doing everything you tell me to do around the house, you
don’t even do anything here

Father: Because you’re my wife, you’re the woman here you should be following my orders

Mother: Exactly I’m your wife! not your maid here (she says as her voice gets louder)

Father: I also do things around the house I’m always so tired that’s why I order you around the house

Mother: Your tired?! you drink and watch the television every day and you say you’re tired? you don’t even clean your
own mess so don’t you dare give me that excuse that your tired
Father: And so? You don’t even support our daughters with what they want for their future just because your sister
disliked their jobs does not mean you should too, you just want them to be what you want them to be and that’s not ok

Mother: So? Who would want their children to be an embarrassment to their family? None that’s why I’m telling them to
think again about what they want because it’s for their own good

Father: Are you sure that it’s for their own good? Or are you doing it for yourself?

Mother: Just stop! You have no rights to question my words, you’re only a drunkard making life difficult for me, always
making me do things for you, remember I am your wife not your maid
(Kyla walks out of the living room in defeat and went to their room)

(The Next Day)

Mother: I’ll go to my sister’s house for now, I’ll live there I don’t want to stay here for awhile

Sandra: What about us mom?

Mother: You’ll be fine; you have your older sisters with you so just help each other out

(after she left, at the dining table)

Sam: Dad breakfast is ready
Father: Oh, where is your mother?
Sam: she left and won’t come home for awhile

-----------------------------------(They went to train and study ---------------------------------

(got home)
Sandra: Hi you guys got home early by the way dad is drunk again
Sam: where is he?
Sandra: In the kitchen
(They went to the kitchen to clean up after their father again)
Father: Any news from your mother
Sam: None, she never called
Father: I’m sorry my dear daughters for being a drunkard, I just don’t know what to do I really feel useless because I don’t
have a job and I don’t know how to help at home that’s why I just sit around and make myself think that you can do it by
yourselves
Angelica: There are lots of things you can do dad but you just choose not to help
Father: Yes, I know, I know and I’m sorry, I really am I’ll try to make it up to you

(next morning)
Father: Good morning my dears, breakfast is ready I’m not that good of a cook but I hope it’s not that bad
Sam: Thank you pa! Let’s all eat together
(after eating they already went to school while their father decides that he’ll clean up)
Angelica: Dad, we’re home!
(looking around)
Angelica: Why is the house so clean?
Sandra: I arrived earlier and I saw dad cleaning around the house while you two were still at work he’s already preparing
for our dinner
Sam: I’ll go help him
(after preparing dinner)
Father: so how’s your studies and your training?
Angelica: me and Sam are going to try and take nursing
Father: No you don’t have to do that you already graduated and Sam just passed the exams, you don’t have to do what
your mother wants you to do
Sam: but it’s the best choice and it’s the job mother wants us to have and also to avoid criticism from others
Father: What other people say does not matter, follow what your heart and mind wants
Angelica: you think so?
Father: yes, I believe in you and your capabilities and will always support you
Sandra: I also believe you I think that being a military police and an engineer is cool
Father: As long as your happy with what you’re doing then I’m happy too
Angelica & Sam: Thank you to the both of you
(after dinner they each took part on washing the plates and fixing the table)
*Knock knock*
Sandra: MOMS HOMEEEE!
Mother: so how is everyone?
Father: we’re all doing great, Sam is doing amazing on her training in the PMA and Angelica is always doing good on her
studies, she said she wants to get a dorm in the school since it’s quite far
Mother: what? You’re still going to try to pursue that? didn’t I tell you already the consequences of your actions
Father: it’s what they want to pursue just let them do what they love. You might want the best for them but let them make
their own decisions, they are already old enough to know what they want, as long as their happy we should also be happy
for them
Mother: but-
Father: no buts, did you know your daughters wanted to give up what they started, what they love just to do what you
want them to be, they are ready to give up their passion for you and now that they want to continue to pursue their dream
the least you can do is give them your support
Mother: I’m sorry for being inconsiderate about what you want, I was being worried about our image in the family and
what might people think instead of looking out for your feelings
Sam: its fine mom, don’t worry
Mother: No it’s not, I will try best to make it up to you and I will give you all of my support in everything you do as long
as your happy with what you are doing then I will also be happy for you

Commentator: The parents tried their best to make up with their past mistakes to their daughters, as time went by the
daughters are finally opening up and being more dedicated to their chosen vocation
-------------------------------------------------------------------Years Later------------------------------------------------------------------
Father: Wow! Look at our new home, I can’t believe we finally have built our dream house
Angelica: Of course dad, this house that I worked hard to get built is for us
Mother: This is the result of all your hard works, me and your father are very thankful for everything
Sam: No mom, this is the result of everyone’s hard work and both of your support for us
Sandra: We are very thankful for everything mom and dad
Father: Thank you dear, we are blessed for having you three as our daughters

(They continued living their life happily supporting and loving each other)
