1. Management is essential for an organized life and necessary to run all types of management.
Good management is the backbone of successful organizations. Managing life means getting
things done to achieve life’s objectives and managing an organization means getting things done
with and through other people to achieve its objectives.
2. Human resource management (HRM) is the practice of recruiting, hiring, deploying and
managing an organization’s employees. Human Resources (HR) department is responsible for
hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company
policies and practices.
3. You can get capital or erect building but it takes people to build a business that’s why employees
are very important. They must be treated as a valuable assets in every business or company. They
are part of the management because they are the ones who’s responsible in driving business to
success.
4. Management is the process of guiding the development, maintenance, and allocation of resources
to attain organizational goals. Management has several roles in a company, but their six main
roles include planning, organizing, staffing, leading, motivating, and controlling.
5. Essentially, Employee and Labor Relations is concerned with preventing and resolving problems
involving employees which stem out of or affect work situations. Employee Relations recognizes
employees for service contributed to the Pace community and provides assistance with
professional growth. Finally, Employee and Labor Relations is responsible for negotiation and
administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreements for the two employee Unions on campus.

6. Compensations and benefits are an important aspect of human resource management as it helps
the workforce keep going. These compensations keep the workforce motivated to achieve more.
It helps the organization award its employees on the basis of their performance and helps them
excel at every venture they undertake.

The employee who renders service beyond the schedule indicated in the contract will be
given additional compensation equivalent to his regular wage including at least 25%
premium.
 Premium Pay
A premium pay is an overtime pay for rest days and official holidays. Employee shall be
paid an additional compensation from the rate of the first eight hours on a holiday or rest
day plus at least 30%. There are three types, Regular Holidays, Special Holidays, Double
Holidays.
 Night Shift Differential
Also known as night shift pay, it applies to employees who work between 10:00 PM and
6:00 AM.
An additional 10% premium is applied for every hour at work.
 13th Month Pay
The 13 month pay is often mistaken as the Christmas Bonus, but technically, it’s a
monetary bonus mandated by law. The Christmas bonus is only a voluntary gesture from
the employers. According to the law, the 13 month pay is given either in 2 installments
(May and December) or in full before December 24.
 Retirement pay
Upon the age of 60 years or more, an employee who has served at the establishment for at
least five years may be granted a retirement pay equivalent to at least one-half month of
salary for every year of service. A fraction of at least six months is considered as one
whole year.
7. Managers are responsible for the processes of getting activities completed efficiently with and
through other people and setting and achieving the firm’s goals through the execution of four
basic management functions: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
