The Gifts Lent from Yesterday’s Idyll

Oh world filled with mysticism so dumbfounding

No day had our ancestors been left without an inkling
That believing in spiritual beings beyond logic and sight
Will be among the future Filipinos’ source of identity and might

Art of Filipinos is no foreigner to marvel and spectacle

Accessories directly sourced from nature’s grace and miracle
Clothing fabricated for dignity and shield from the cold
Tattoos lavished with patterns and stories to behold

Even marriage still follows customs and traditions

With dowry and gorgeous features, with distinctive celebrations
Sayawan, pamanhikan, and other idiosyncratic ceremonies
Make everyone involved happy, satisfied, and appeased

Our past and present beliefs are evidently connected

Because of values that were passed on and never neglected
Thus, before we end our declaration, let us say
Never forget your cultural ways and be proud of who you are today
