Lawn Tennis is a globally admired racket-based sport, played in formats of

singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.
In singles, two players stands on opposite ends of the tennis court, and in
doubles two teams having two players each, are engaged in a riveting battle of
nerves, stamina, and strength to outwit the opponent from making an effective
return. The governing body of this sport is the fabled International Tennis
federation, constituting of 210 national tennis associations of individual
countries.

3, The modern game of tennis traces back to a medieval game, which began in
the 12th century at France. It was initially played with the palm of our hand,
and rackets were added by 16th century.

4. The ONLY difference between lawn tennis and tennis is the surface, on
which its being played. If tennis is played on Hard court then it's simply
“Tennis”. When Tennis is played on a grass surface then its called Lawn Tennis.

5 -6 , Some of the main rules of tennis are:

A ball must land within bounds for play to continue; if a player hits the ball
outside of bounds, this results in the loss of the point for them.

Players cannot carry the ball or catch it with the racquet.

Players cannot hit the ball twice.

Players must wait until the ball passes the net before they can return it.

A player that does not return a live ball before it bounces twice loses the
point.

If the ball hits or touches the players, that counts as a penalty.

7-10, Line umpires , chair umpires , referees and community officials together
are called tennis officials. They help regulate the game . Tennis has been a
popular sport in India since the 1880s.

11, Tennis enjoys a considerable following in India, although it is limited to

urban areas but still it is counted among the most popular sports in India. India
has produced a number of tennis players, who have achieved international
recognition and have made their presence in some of the top tennis
tournaments and grand slams.
