STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government sector public service program

conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly
known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at
developing student's personality through community service. It is a voluntary association.
The symbol for the NSS has been based on the giant Rath Wheel of the world-famous Konark
Sun Temple (The Black Pagoda) situated in Odisha, India. The wheel portrays the cycle of
creation, preservation and release. It signifies the movement in life across time and space, the
symbol thus stands for continuity as well as change and implies the continuous striving of
NSS for social change.

The name itself defines the widest ambit of this scheme. Since, NSS provides services to
entire nation, i.e. irrespective of any category or any generation of people. It serves child, old
age people, females & many more.

I have worked with some NGO which provides help to the children. I found myself helpful
towards the children there, From there, I came to know about one of qualities that I posses
serving nature for the people in need. Moreover, I have interned under the child welfare
committee at my home town. During that internship, I got an opportunity to visit correctional
home where I tried to communicate with them in order to know their issues & difficulties
there. I brought in light sanitation issue to the Juvenile court.

Currently, I interned at District Legal Services Authority, Jehanabad. It is also known as

Legal Aid Cell. I have attended the meetings in Legal Aid Cell & also got an opportunity to
visit local schools for awareness programmes. I tried to make the children aware of there
rights together with their duties. By fortune, I was successful in creating an environment
where the students were taking part in the conversation during awareness programme. After
the programme was over, the senior authorities of the schools appreciated my way of
interation with the youngies.

Most of the time, I got opportunities to serve the children but by joining NSS cell I will get
opportunity to serve for the other category of people. I would try to use my experiences to
serve the nation. I personally feel, when I help a person in need I feel less tired & exhausted.
Moreover, I feel comfy. So, I need to serve the nation not for anyone else but to make myself
feel happy.

SERVING HUMANITY IS THE TRUE SERVICE.
