In the film, it all begins when two assistants Harper (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie Young (Glen Powell) engage in the mission of uniting the bosses in order to have a quiet life at work. Bosses are strong-tempered and introverted people when it comes to work. It is certain that, the boss Kirsten Stevens (Lucy Liu) is single and practically lives only for the job, since the boss Richard "Rick Otis" (Taye Diggs), is a businessman of short fuse and very authoritarian. The life of the assistants becomes hell with their endless tasks throughout the day, and the bosses terrorize the lives of their subordinates. That's where Harper and Charlie start coming up with a plan to make bosses fall in love. Outside of work, Harper and Charlie are surrounded by friends and have a life that is full of ambition because they aim to achieve professional success. Charlie likes Suze (Joan Smalls), but hardly has time to stay with her, due to her chores at work and for always being on Rick's orders. Harper doesn't have anyone in her life yet and lives in favor of the boss who spends more time in the office than in her home. However, when living with Harper, Charlie begins to realize that there are other things far more important than appearances and, above all, than investing his life in a job. Like any other secretary, Harper and Charlie have the function of developing their activities with excellence and responsibility, in fact they already do so, however, getting their bosses involved is a task that goes far beyond their duties at work, and this makes the assistants devise a very bold plan, in the midst of a crazy but mind- boggling idea, Harper and Charlie try to bring their bosses together in a relationship, because they believe that if bosses are worried about their personal lives, they won't bother to make them feel.
