Continental drift Theory

1. Who is Alfred Wegener?

Alfred Wegener is a Scientist who had a PhD in astronomy and then he studied
meteorology, geology, physics.

2. What was his theory about?

His theory contained about how continents were moving and that how all the
continents were formed as one calling it a “Pangea”.

3. What are the evidences that Wegener gathered to support his theory?

-Apparent fit of the Continents -Fossil Correlation

-Rock and Mountain correlation -Paleoclimate data

4. Why was the theory of Wegener rejected?

His theory was rejected because Wegener failed to explain what force was driving the
motion of the continents due to his death in the icy sheets of Greenland.

5. If you were part of the scientific community during Wegener’s timeline, will you
support his theory? Why or why not?

1. Aside from failing to explain what force was driving the motion of
the continents, the evidences he had gathered was already enough to
convince me about his theory of continents moving and the earth
being a “Pangea”.
