This research is motivated by the low ability of students to understand mathematical
concepts. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of
the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model on the ability
to understand mathematical concepts of seventh grade students of MTsN 2 Pesisir Selatan .
This type of research is pre-experimental with a one shot case study design. The
population in this study were students of class VIII MTsN 2 Pesisir Selatan which consisted
of 7 classes. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling , so class
VIII.6 shift A was chosen as the research sample. The research instrument used is the final
test. The form of the test used is an essay with the reliability of the test is 0.830 . The data
analysis technique used is t-test.
Based on the data analysis obtained t  = 2.07 and t  = 1,74 , because t  > t  then
count  table  count  table 

reject H  on the real level of 0.05 so that it can be concluded that there are significant

application of learning models Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP ) on the ability


to understand mathematical concepts of grade VII students of MTsN 2 Pesisir Selatan .
