I used progressivism as the basis for planning/designing my lesson on
identifying relevant and irrelevant ideas in a paragraph. Instead of just presenting the lesson in a lecture method, I used a variety of learning activities that are built around the experiences, interests, and abilities of students. These activities are also encouraging students to work together cooperatively. The following are concrete proofs of progressivism in my lesson:
1. I asked the students to compare a paragraph to a regular burger.
2. Instead of just telling the students what a good paragraph is, I grouped them and asked them to reconstruct an erroneous paragraph. This activity fostered collaborative and problem- solving skills among the students.
