Also, this tune uses a modern hip-hop shuffle groove. A shuffle means that the beat is subdi-
vided differently than it is in common 4/4 time. Whereas eighth notes normally subdivide the

shuttle rhythms are based on a triplet figure("one...and...uh...two...and...uh...three,
and...uh...four...and...uh"). Tie the first two notes of each triplet, letting them ring as one, and
the shuffle rhythm emerges:

erally written as straight eighth notes with the added “shutfle :,—., .)" indication at the start,
because this looks much cleaner and less complex on the page than loads of triplet figures,
