a) What is a control system?

b) Draw a block diagram of the closed-loop system and describe how the system works.

c) What are the differences between open-loop and closed-loop systems?

d) Give the advantages and disadvantages of open-loop system compare to closed-loop systems.

e) Engineering or manufacturing company’s organizational system is composed of major groups

such as Research & Development, Product Design & Drafting, Preliminary Design,
Experiments, Management, Fabrication & Assembling, and Testing. These groups are
interconnected to make up the whole operation that may consist a feedback process control.
Illustrates the appropriate feedback process control blocks diagram that showing this engineering
organizational system. Indicate any possible inner feedback loop.

f) Figure 1 shows a fluid-flow control where the control system used a human operator as part of a
closed-loop system. Sketch a block diagram of the valve control system of a fluid-flow with a
human operator, and explain briefly each parts of the block diagram.
