Key conditions in managing multicultural societies:

1. Take into account interest of every community
2. Strategic direction/goal
3. Structures with social mobility and perceived fairness--> happiness
4. Level the playing field
5. 3rd place: SOCIAL PLACE (structure must have third places for people to
interact)
6. Interaction: acceptance, accommodation

Things to note:
- do not paraphrase too much
- common sensical arguments! - point out assumptions
- if it sounds wonky to you, it will sound wonkier to the examiner
- no need too many points, make sure the points are strong
- LINK back to question at all costs
- figures: can be approximate
- DEFINE key term in beginning of essay
- weigh in conclusion

Eg. This would create problems in managing multicultural societies because of

the uneven playing field as some groups who are poorer will lose out. The
author does not create a convincing argument on how the housing policies are
sufficient to help prove his conclusion. This can be seen by how Chinese
immigrants tend to live in certain areas because of the housing cost, leading to
fault lines in society. Eg. In conclusion, the article is only partially convincing as it
focuses only on the policy aspect of managing multicultural societies but largely
fails in considering how structures and interactions affect policies and its
consequences.
