Question 1: Triangle XYZ is inside square KLMN shown below so that its vertices
each lie on three different sides of the square. It is known that the area of square
KLMN is 1 and the vertices of the triangle divide three sides of the square up into
these ratios: 𝐾𝑋: 𝑋𝐿 = 3: 2, 𝐾𝑌: 𝑌𝑁 = 4: 1, 𝑁𝑍: 𝑍𝑀 = 2: 3. What is the area of the
triangle XYZ?
Question 2: A rectangle is divided into several parts as shown in the figure. The total
sum of perimeter of 4 squares is 120 cm. Find the area of the original rectangle.
Question 3: A rectangle is divided into some small squares, as shown in the figure.
Given that the side length of the smallest square is 1 cm, what is the perimeter, in cm,
of the rectangle?
Question 4: In the following figure, ABCD and AEFG are two squares. Given that
𝐴𝐵 = 12 𝑐𝑚. Find the area of the triangle 𝐵𝐷𝐹.
Question 5: In the folowing figure: QMAP, BMQC, DNPA, NPQC are 4 congruent
right-angled trapezoids. PQ = 5 cm. Find the area of the rectangle ABCD.
Question 9: In the quadrilateral ABCD the sides AD and BC are parallel and AD
is perpendicular to DC. The lengths of AD and BC are 3 and 2, respectively. E is
the point on DC between D and C such that DE has length 3 and EC has length
1, as shown. The lines AE and BD meet at F. Find the exact area of triangle ABF
Question 10: In the following figure, STM and OUI are right triangles inside the
rectangle IMSO. Given that ST = 21 cm, TM = 72 cm, OU = 45 cm, find the area of
the rectangle IMSO.
