C - In the magico-religious paradigm, the fate of the world and those in it, including humans, depends on
the actions of God, the gods, or other supernatural forces for good or evil

C - Many Latino, African American, and Middle Eastern cultures are grounded in the magico-religious
paradigm. In Western cultures, there are examples of this paradigm in which metaphysical reality
interrelates with human society

B - Malojo, or the evil eye, common in Latino and other cultures, can be viewed as the intrusion of a
disease-causing spirit

C - Another common metaphor for health and illness in the holistic paradigm is the hot/cold theory of
disease. This is founded on the ancient Greek concept of the four body humor: yellow bile, black bile,
phlegm, and blood

B - A strong metaphor in the holistic paradigm is exemplified by the Chinese concept of yin and yang, in
which the forces of nature are balanced to produce harmony

A - A folk healing system is a set of beliefs that has a shared social dimension and reflects what people
do when they are ill versus what society says they ought to do according to a set of social standards.
Most cultures have folk healers, most of whom speak the native tongue of the client, who is also an
integral part of the healthcare team

D - The ancient practice of Acupuncture started in China and is now used as a complementary,
integrative, or alternative therapy in the modern health care system

B - The Ancient Indian medical system, also known as Ayurveda, is based on ancient writings that rely on
a “natural” and holistic approach to physical and mental health. Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world's
oldest medical systems and remains one of India's traditional health care systems

A - Biofield therapies are intended to affect energy fields that surround and penetrate the human body.
Some forms of energy therapy manipulate biofields by applying pressure and/or manipulating the body
by placing the hands in, or through, these fields

C - This is based on manipulation and/or movement of one or more parts of the body. Some examples
are: chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation and massage therapy
