Types of Research Gaps

1. There is a knowledge gap, which means that it does not exist in the actual field, and a
study's outcome may differ from what was anticipated.

2. The gap in practical knowledge occurs when professional behavior or practices either
depart from the research findings or are not covered by the research.

3. Evidence gap- previous study findings are conflicting, and there is little or no
evidence to solve the research topic.

4. Methodological gap- A distinction in the research method is required to gain new

insights or prevent unclear findings.

5. Empirical gap- discoveries or outcomes must be empirically validated.

6. Theoretical gap- should apply the theory to specific research challenges to develop
new insights; a lack of theoretical knowledge may result in a research gap.

7. Population gap- in previous studies, the population was not fully represented or
under-researched, such as gender, age, and race.
