COMMUNITY SERVICE

I. Definition of terms
a. Community Service- it is voluntary work to provide help and project in a
particular are without expecting anything in return
b. Community- a group of people living in the same particular are that has
characteristic in common
c. Service- The Action of helping or doing work for someone

II. Purpose
The purpose of Community Service is to seek to empower local
communities to identify, provide and implement the projects that they
most need in a particular area. e.g. Seaside; we must plant mangroves at
the sea side because mangroves are the first line of defense for coastal
communities. They stabilize shorelines by slowing erosion and provide natural
barriers protecting coastal communities from storm surge and flooding.
III. Benefits of Community Service
a. We are able to establish, maintain and influence relationships between
Military forces and Indigenous Populations and Institutions.
b. It raises our social awareness.
c. It establishes friendship.
d. It helps us improve our skills.

IV. Community Service Conclusion

As an ROTC Cadet When we are conducting Community Services we seek to

empower local communities to identify and implement the projects they most need for
example the Area that we are going to serve is at Sea side we must provide the help or
project that they most need for example; We must plant mangroves at the sea side
because Mangroves are the first line of defense for coastal communities. They stabilize
shorelines by slowing erosion and provide natural barriers protecting coastal
communities from flooding and increased storm surge. Next example we are attending
the Brigada Eskwela every summer before class starts. It is not only about painting the
classrooms, grass cutting, and cleaning the surroundings but for us to show the youth
and their parents the good impact in our personality in joining ROTC because we lead
by example. We also need to win their hearts and minds to ensure that these people
around us watching what we do is to avoid them from joining militant groups and
communist terrorist groups.
