COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides a background in the fundamental principles of ecological science, including
concepts of natural selection, population and community ecology, biodiversity, and
sustainability. The lectures will give students an overview of the field of ecology and how it
applies to the sustainability of human societies and its environment where people live. The
course is also aimed to give the students an ecological literacy about how the natural world
works, exploring some of today’s major ecological challenges. What important things needed to
be done, in light of the role of real estate in these concerns?

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end this course students will

 Acquire ecological literacy and how the natural world works. Describe and categorize
interactions between organisms and their environment.
 Explore the multiple levels in which ecological interactions and relationships take place.
Explains the various levels at which ecology functions.
 Develop a deeper understanding of how human development and industry like real estate
impacts ecological communities and ecosystems. Describe the role of various human
interactions, set up of communities in the ecological balance of an area.
 Acquires knowledge on the various Philippine Environmental laws. Identify the laws that
govern the environmental issues and concerns and apply the details of the laws in
different cases of real estate transactions.
 Become familiar with the difference ecological terminologies. Define the different
ecological terminologies.
