IN THESE QUESTIONS, YOU NEED TO ANALYZE THE ACT AND CHOOSE
BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD ACCORDING TO A PARTICULAR ETHICAL
THEORY. THE CASE IS REAL.

Alpay Ozalan was a soccer player who played for the Turkish National Soccer Team. He was
included in the squad that competed in the 1996 European Football Championship. In the
championship, the first game of Turkey was against Croatia. Many people in Turkey were expecting
a positive result (at least a draw) from the game. In the 86. minute of the game when the score was
0-0, Croatian player Goran Vlaovic found himself one-on-one with Alpay. He dribbled past Alpay,
scored a goal and Croatia won the game 1-0. Alpay could have fouled Vlaovic and stopped him
from scoring. However, he preferred not to do so and Turkey lost the game. If he had fouled, he
would probably get a red card, would not be able to play in the remaining games but the game
would surely end 0-0. Analyze Alpay’s decision.
