Book: "The Little Prince" written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Genre:- Speculative fiction, Novella

“All grown-ups were once children... but only a few of them remember it.”

It all started when a seemingly normal boy- with golden hair and a lovable laugh- fell on to earth
and into the Sahara Desert. At the same destination, a pilot crashed his plane and is trying to
escape the heat of the desert and is tired and weary. After talking for a while, the pilot suspects
the young boy will be of no help, and when the boy asks him to draw him a sheep, his suspicions
are confirmed. But soon he realises that this young boy- who is at first glance foolish and
immature- is so full of happiness and joy that even the most stressful things do not daunt him. An
aura of happiness surrounds him which is contagious. Soon, the pilot realises that he has to
awake the child living inside him. "The Little Prince" teaches a valuable lesson: The world is full
of demons like sadness and stress, but you do not have to give in to them.

My Review: This book was very different from the ones I usually read. I thought it was just
going to be a simple story about a prince on his journey of self-awakening- it was not! This book
had many more themes about happiness, friendship and not giving up when everything around
you seems impossible. Yes, the themes of this book were delivered perfectly and indirectly, but
the main plot of the story was not quite as compelling. I often found myself chuckling at the little
prince's sheer innocence and child-like personality. The writer nailed the use of his creativity and
imagination to describe the various contrasting things between the little prince's planet and planet
Earth. The book was beautifully illustrated with pictures which made the book even more
adorable. I think what made this book great was the personality of the little prince; giddy,
innocent, charming, and with just the right amount of joy.
