Backsliding

Definition:

1. Backsliding is the turning away from God.

1 Kings 11:9 “And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his
heart was turned from the Lord God.”

2. Backsliding is growing cold and leaving the first love.

Revelations 2:4 “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee,

because thou hast left thy first love.”

3. Backsliding is turning from the simplicity of the Gospel to salvation by

law.

Galatians 5:4 “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of

you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.”

4. Backsliding is one sin that separates a believer from the Lord.

Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your
God.
