AC Motor Applications
 Computers
The AC motors necessary on this application is not exactly on the outside aesthetic of this
device/appliance. The AC motors are stationed at the hard disk drives wherein it spins to read the
data stored on the drives. Moreover, to keep the overall temperature of the system down, cooling
fans were also applied.
 Conveyor Systems
Due to the nature of the conveyor systems, long running and in one direction, AC motors
were the best fit for this certain application. The AC squirrel cage motor is commonly used due
to the constant speed of these belts. Using DC motors may disrupt the process because of the
often carbon brushes.
 Hydraulic and Irrigation pumps
AC motors are used for the hydraulic and irrigation pumps as horizontal centrifugal pumps
are used for irrigation. This is used due to its application where the maintenance required is low
as well as the cost necessary for the pumps to work.
 Air Conditioner and Fans
One of the most common application for AC motors is used in air conditioner and fans. The
compressor motors work as both the start and the run motor. The wires are wounded on the
motor to deliver enough power to start up the appliance.
 Blower
Another popular air moving AC unit motor is the blower motor. The blower motor looks like
the condenser fan motor, except the blower is ventilated on the sides and/or the ends to allow air
to pass through. Blower motors also have a capacitor, in addition to more wires than condenser
fan motors.
