Parasite

The Kim family lives in a semi-basement and struggle with their poverty. Ki-woo Kim is a young
man who lives together with his father Ki-Taek Kim, mother Chung-Sook Kim, and sister Ki-Jung.
They earn for their living by doing small tasks like folding pizza boxes and hence struggle to
make ends meet. You can see the family’s pitiable financial condition as they have to struggle
for a free Wi-Fi signal, and have to watch men urinating outside their house. Consequently,
they have to rely on street cleaning pesticides to keep their house insect free.
Meanwhile, Ki-Woo’s friend Min-Hyuk comes to their house for a family visit with a gift for the
family. The gift is rock that is supposed to bring wealth and prosperity to their family. Min-Hyuk
offers Ki-woo to work as an English tutor of a teenage daughter of a wealthy family as Min-
Hyuk’s replacement. However, Ki-woo has to act like a university student to get this job. Both of
them agree with each other and Ki-woo prepares forge documents for his interview and Min-
Hyuk recommends Ki-woo to Park family.
In the following scene, Ki-woo meets Mrs. Park for the interview where he teaches her
daughter Da-Hye for a while and manages to secure the job. He meets her son Da-song who
needs an art teacher. We can clearly see that Ki-woo uses his cleverness and pitch for his sister,
Ki-Jung, explaining her as a very successful art teacher named “Jessica”. Ki-Jung forges
documents for herself and acts like an experienced art teacher and art therapists.
Subsequently, she also begins to serve as an art teacher for Da-Song and gets a handful amount
of money.
With an intention to prove, Mr. Park’s driver has sex in his car, Ki-Jung leaves her underwear in
the vehicle. Mr. Park gets trapped and fires his current driver. She then recommends her
"Uncle," who is actually Ki-taek, as the new driver. The last post is held by Moon-kwang, the
housekeeper. She has worked for the house ever since the crazy architect who owned it before
the Park family moved there and employed her. The Kims use Moon-Kwang’s sensitivity to
peaches for their advantage by making her experience allergic responses. They then persuade
Mrs. Park that she is severely sick and should not be around her kids. Having tricked the Park
family into hiring the entire Kim family. Mrs. Kim then receives the job.
Eventually, the whole Kim family lives as parasite of Park family.
