How to write good sentences

1. Simple sentence
2. Compound sentence
 2 or more clauses equally importante to connect this ideas
 Coordinating conjuctions (different meanings): and but for nor or
 Semicolon: closely related ;
 Condjuctive adverbs (relationship between them): also, next
 Coma: clsely related
3. Complex sentence
 2 or more clasues one more inmportante than other. To connect this ideas use : after,
although as because before if the since until
 Ex: because my griflirend cheated on me, eating cookies is my new hobbie
4. Compound complex sentence
 3 or more clauses some more importnate than others. To connect this ideas use: comas,
semicolon, conjuctive verbs, coordinating conjunction and subordinating conjuctions.

Ways of emphasizing the main idea in a sentence

Cumulative sentences: starting white the main point

 Useful to describe a place or an event


 Main clause plus details
 Details explain the main clause
 Ex: we reached Galapagos thet morning after a crazy flight and some exciting
experience, tired

Periodic sentences: delaying the main point
