‘STORAGE TANKS.
INTRODUCTION
Bulk Liquid storage Tanks are required in the ol gas and petrochemical
Industes for the storage of various hydrocarbons and liquid chemicals ranging
{rom raw feedstock such as crude oll through various intermediate products to
finished products such as LPG, benzene, methanol, diesel olland gasoline. Tne
physical properties of the bulk liquids vary, from very heavy viscous asphats
that have to be stored at high temperature to remain fluid, to very light quefiad
‘gases that have to be stored at low temperatures or high pressures to keep the
‘gases in a liquid form, This large variation in properties means that no one tank
Is suitable for ll products
[Important factors, such’ as’ the voltity of the stored material and desired
"storage prassure, result in tanks being bult in different types, sizes and of
_ various construction materials.
This manual covers above ground storage tanks used for storage of large:
volumes of liquids and liquefied gases, They are usually located at process:
plants. oil refineries, marine terminals, tank farms, bulk storage facilties and
