Case study:

German is a civil engineer who has been working at an


International Airport located in Central America for 14
years. He started working there as an intern, then he
was hired as project assistant. The main
responsibilities of the engineering project department
are:
 Ensuring that the airport always remains fully
operational, which means constantly checking
equipment, performing construction and repair
work, and working in collaboration with airport
planners and those working on other key airport
jobs.
 Creating and executing new projects for the airport
such as airport facilities expansion. In addition, this
area is responsible to look for external funds to
execute the projects.
German´s main responsibilities is to assist his boss;
however, he is feeling unmotivated. German has
expressed to one of his colleagues: ¨ I feel bored to
come to my job and do the same tasks, file documents,
received calls, keep my boss´s agenda, and collect
some economic data for some projects¨.

As a Human resources manager, how can you
