CASE STUDY JANSSEN SPIRITUALITY
The past decade has witnessed a substantial growth in the study of religiosity/spirituality in the
relationship of the SVD lay partners with the church, people, society etc. Most of the studies found to be
positive relationship between religion spirituality and health it merely attempt to understand and explain
how spirituality is manifested in cognitive, affective, behavioral and interpersonal aspects of an
individual, thereby affecting mental and physical health that’s why the SVD lay partners emerge in
different parts of the world and their primary focus is to propagate the words of god, not only this but to
continue the Good deeds of Arnold Janssen.

We have the Christian Lay Vocation in the Church. First, Jesus is the light of all the Nation which
refers to Lumen Gentium (1964) Dogma that God will make a way to unite all the Christian people in
devoting, praying and giving the words of God even if we are in different cultures, beliefs and
nationalities. Because we are believing in one God. Second, Gaudium et Spes (1965) Mungkahing
Pastoral, in all aspects of our life God is still there even though we face different problems, difficulties
and in having a good time. Third, the Apostolicam Actuositatem (apostolate) the one that has an enough
knowledge in his devotion to God. His the one that is best in giving the sermon to the laity. Fourth,
Evangelii Nuntiandi (1975) they are the lay partners that are focusing on the fellow Christians by giving
the words of God, doing what the people of the church needed to, inspiring those people in promoting
good heart and soul. Fifth, we have the Puebla, the one that are giving his heart to people in the
community. People are so blessed in having this Puebla because they are true in terms of allowing
zthemselves to reach and admiring others to be good and have faith in God. And
lastly, the Basic Ecclesial Communities it is the family discipleship, they are gathered in different families
that engage in the words of God, by being unified they formed a good harmonious atmosphere they
believing in the presence of God in all aspects of their lives. The closeness of each family member
become more tightly, doing this regularly in every week become a habit to them that believing in one God
and praying soulfully will make a better place to be. Being an SVD Lay partner it gave opportunity to
give back because they feel that church has given so much to them. The believe that encouraging the
youth is much better because they needed it in the church. So if they could see lay partners as
productively active, not just being a lector or an extraordinary minister, or a teacher, but doing something
more outside the church in the realm of the community and serving, that could inspire them. Building this
kind of relationship will be an appreciative work of the spirit in this effort. Bible sharing or faith sharing
with the group members. Formation helps to be united with Christ, society, divine world and the church,
to respond local and global needs. To becomes a real and convincing experience only by doing things
together.

The goal of the group is to inspire lay Catholics to learn more about the Spirituality of the Society
of the Divine word, stay connected with the SVDs serving around the world and pray for the success of
their missions. Wherein the laity was given the opportunity to render service back to every people who
have dedicated themselves to serving. The SVD associates holds prayer services, reflections and
meditations to pray for Divine Word Missionary Priests and Brothers, as well as their missionary
endeavors. They also roll up their sleeves and join the mission.
