1. If you were a Northern African American in the 1850s, how would you have

responded to the policies of the U.S. government?

As a Northern African American, I would support the policies of the U.S.

government. The policies of the U.S. government in the 1950s for the Northern African

American was a significant contributor towards independence and freedom. It would be easy

to solve slavery and its oppressive laws by incorporating specific neutral policies in the

region. The point is to offer a hand for amplifying the freedom the Northern policies were for

the blacks. The main issue that would be set in line with the U.S. government policies would

be the only way to establish better ways of countering racism (Malka, 2018). The best

response to the U.S. government policies in the Northern Region in the 1850s is to connect

with the positive side of slavery abolishment. It is necessary to come to the point of accepting

the nature of policies necessary to derive the best experience for a free society in terms of

slavery and racism.

2. If you were a white Southerner in the 1850s, would you have been encouraged or

discouraged by U.S. government policies?

I will be discouraged by the government’s policies that would be dehumanizing

African Americans. As a Southern White American, it will be appropriate to join other active

protestors and abolitionists to persuade the government to reform racism-based policies. The

only way to settle down the issues connected with oppressive slavery policies is through

active protests and demonstrations (Malka, 2018). The main issue in slavery-dominated

societies was the lack of freedom and rights as humans. Defining a way to persuade the

whites to respect the African American’s rights would be through the utilization of protective

policies that would counter what had already been set in place in the Southern regions about
3

slaves. The hope of freedom would be possible by being an active protestor against slavery

and the dehumanizing policies set in place.
