a) Explain the major classification of piles based on materials and composition.
Describe three types of Cased cast in situ concrete piles with sketches.

b) Describe wooden flooring used in building construction, its properties and
advantages.
III.
a) Describe in detail any 5 types of polymer, their properties and application in
building construction.

b) Distinguish between thermo-plastics and thermosetting-plastics. Describe with any
three examples from each group.

IV. Answer any one question (1 x 20 marks = 20 marks)

a) Draw the elevation, section and longitudinal reinforcement details for a combined
lintel and sunshade for a window opening of 120cm X 150cm of a room. Label and
dimension all parts.

b) Draw the construction details of Steel stud framing for a room of size 4m X 3m X
3m (height) and label all parts with dimensions.
