Student Council

Terms lasts from Winter 2011 to Summer 2012. Senior Representatives terms run only through the winter of 2011. Executive Board Must shadow Student Council Meeting on Thursday July 21 and join University of Chicago Collegiate Scholars Program - Student Council on Facebook to be eligible. Exceptions can be made. Candidates run in groups of three for President, Vice-president, and Secretary. The Executive Board guides the realization of social events, modifies minor components of the Student Council Bylaws, schedules meetings, and develops meeting agendas. Class Representatives There are two representatives for each class. Ability to prioritize obligations to the Student Council over the course of their terms and set an example for other scholars Responsibility to routinely check and respond to emails, text messages, phone calls, and other means of communication Commitment to all student council tasks and meetings The President is responsible for all the work done by the student council. The president is responsible for scheduling meetings, conducting the meetings, and reporting student council matters to program administrators through the appointed Student Council Advisor. The Vice President is responsible for supporting the president in his or her duties, helping the president to organize presentations to the staff, and assuming the presidents responsibilities in the case of the presidents absence. The Secretary is responsible for keeping records of meetings, sharing these records with the advisor, working with class representatives to promote socials, managing the Student Government Facebook group, and announcing Student Council meetings through Facebook events. Voice the opinions of their respective classes by communicating between their classes and the student government, CSP staff, as well as the general scholar body The Class Representatives are involved in planning and operating social events, cooperating in event-specific committees, and helping the Secretary promote announcements.
